Has Kanye West Finally Gone Off the Deep End?
Sometime a little after 7 p.m., a friend of mine told me to check Twitter.
“You need to see what’s going on with Kanye right now”
I didn’t think much of it at first. Among the things Kanye has done over the last few years:
- Announced that he’s running for President of the United States.
- Strange music video with Kim on a motorcycle.
- Asking Mark Zuckerberg for a billion dollars.
- Meltdown at the VMAs.
- Calling himself Jesus in 2006.
- Stealing Taylor Swift’s moment at the MTV Music Awards — “I’ma let you finish”.
- Suggesting to Donald Trump that he replace Air Force One with a hydrogen-powered plane.
The list goes on.
Over the last few years, there have been talks concerning Kanye’s mental health. The last flurry of tweets seem to suggest just that.
Two years ago, Kim was quick to defend her husband’s antics, labeling them his “expressions”:
At Kanye’s Presidential Rally on Sunday, July 19, 2020, he said, “Even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into this world, when I did not want to. She stood up and she protected that child.”
The Kardashian clan seems to have defended Kanye for years. This goes through the Taylor Swift drama all the way up to today. However, with the personal attack on his wife, asking the clan to call him over Twitter, and publicly stating that Kim has been looking for a doctor to help him, the clever public relations packaging might finally be bursting at the seams.
Kanye’s mental health might not be something that can be hidden anymore. With a following as large as his, he’s always a few finger strokes away from letting the world know details about the inner-workings of his spiraling mental state.
It seems as though Kim understands the dangers of this unbuckling and has taken greater strides in attempting to manage it. While it’s not clear whether Kanye is a threat to his own children, it seems like precautions could only be necessary for the safety of his kids.
Some antics can always be chalked up to creative aloofness. I don’t know if it’s possible for the Kardashian-Jenner clan to come out defending this most recent string of tweets.
